Artemovszk 38 is the name of this ship. I have been living in Budapest for about ten months now, however, this was the first time I stepped on the ship. I often spotted it. When we drove past the Danube, I have always been amazed by the distinct and artistic statue on the stern of the ship. It is made of copper or maybe bronze material, I am not exactly sure in the twilight, but its texture and form certainly looked mysterious to me...
Finally I have a chance to see this much think about place. We were invited to a concert by a French band called ''Mango Gadzi''
With their kind of music: this special concoction of French street-music, arab motivs, rai, flamenco and gipsy manouche, the crowd started jumping up and down by the third piece and you can feel the entire area under your feet bouncing. Since the concert venue is on the stern of the ship, the vibrations were even more intense :)
''As you know, we are on a ship!'' Thomas Garnier, who played the flute in such a lively pose, said jokingly that maybe half of us must stand onto the port side instead of all crowding together on the starboard side so as to feel a better balance. It was just a light-hearted little joke since A38 has been fixed on the Danube since 2003.
The views on the Panorama Restaurant on deck level is really great! It can be approached from the main entrance. Its terrace overlooks the Pest side, entrance from the restaurant. The Concert Hall with Bar that can hold about 600 people standing is exactly in the middle of the ship's hold. Its floor-level is one meter under the river's water-level. Or you can get there from the Artist's Bar. Next to it is a bar called Engine Bar. It is in the ship's hold at its poop side, behind the concert hall.
At the bow, there is a Bowsbar which operates as a cocktail-bar and Internet-café (in the ship's hold) at the stern. Bowsterrace is also a Cocktail-bar but with a complete panorma of the city, it is permeable towards the restaurant, and where the stairs of the Roof-terrace lead from. This amazing Roof-terrace is right above the restaurant, where we approached from the Bowsterrace.
Personally, I like this first clubbing experience that is so special. I would highly recommend you to check out this amazing audience friendly venue that comes with a concert venue, bars, rooms and a restaurant. (Special Review by Zannnie)
